Songs in the Skyspace
Songs in the Skyspace is Landmarks' monthly music series hosted inside James Turrell’s Skyspace, The Color Inside. Launched in 2019, Songs in the Skyspace runs monthly on select evenings during the sunset light sequence. Free reservations are required and can be made online. Please note that reservations tend to fill up three weeks in advance of performances. Learn more here.
Listening with Landmarks
Listening with Landmarks is a digital initiative featuring playlists curated by prominent Austin musicians and music personalities. Inspired by works from the Landmarks collection, the playlists cut across musical categories to include rock, Classical, Tejano, R&B, reggae, and country. One playlist is released each month on Landmarks' website, social media channels, and on Spotify. View the full list of playlists here.
Sound in Sculpture
Established in 2015, Sound in Sculpture is an annual multidisciplinary event in which student composers are invited to respond to works in Landmarks’ collection. Presented in partnership with Texas Performing Arts and the Sarah and Ernest Butler School of Music, the event offers a unique way to engage with Landmarks and ignites new understanding of the collection. Paws for Public Art
Launched in 2023, Paws for Public Art pairs art and animals to promote mental health by highlighting how they both alleviate stress. This annual event occurs each spring to coincide with university midterms. This year, Paws for Public Art returned March 6 with miniature goats, hedgehogs, bunnies, chicks and piglets stationed at four iconic works from Landmarks’ collection: Clock Knot, Monochrome for Austin, Circle with Towers, and Square Tilt.
